11/09/09 - Black Iris Music presents its fifth release, the Best Coast 7"- the musical collaboration between Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno. The release features two new original tracks - 'When I'm With You' A-Side and 'This is Real' B-Side - which were recorded with Lewis Pesacov (Fool's Gold, Foreign Born) who also co-engineered the album with Michael Harris, and produced by the Black Iris collective in their LA studio.
The news of this Best Coast 7' follows on the heels of a series of extremely well-received shows at this year's annual CMJ Music Conference in New York City. SPIN included Best Coast in their '25 Must-Hear Artists' preview, FADER featured the duo in their exclusive festival coverage, and critics' raves poured in from outlets including The Village Voice, Pitchfork, and Time Out New York among others.

3/13/09 - Black Iris Music is releasing two new seven-inches at this year's SXSW festival in Austin, Texas; a reissue of Fool's Gold's popular (and now out of print) Surprise Hotel in brand new Lakers-inspired colors, as well as Foreign Born's Vacationing People, from their forthcoming album 'Person to Person.' Both bands will be playing the festival at the times below. Also performing will be past Black Iris 7" participants Bad Veins, whose Black Iris-produced album will be out shortly on Dangerbird Records.

Anyone who has ever asked Santa for an Exploding Plastic Winter
Wonderland, pondered what Scott Walker might have done at the Philips
Christmas party after too much mulled wine, cried in their egg nog
because Kraftwerk and Neu! never showed their festive side or just
wanted to let loose on the dance floor with a mistletoe top hat and a
champagne glass filled with figgy pudding may get their Christmas wish.
